greetings and felicitations to all,.

tonight i attended my first al-anon meeting--it's for families of alcoholics.

i've been having trouble with my daughter and drugs.. but anyway, the meeting was in a catholic church area.

We were isolated from the "worldly" kids, but, "we had the truth". I remember an elder telling me if I wanted to have fun now in this old system of things or have fun in the new system? How much more fun would it be to play with Lions and Tigers, and Bears (oh my!). This is something my worldly classmates surely would not have the priviledge to do. So, I grew up as a young youth going out in service and giving talk no. 2 at the TMS.
At 16, there were a couple of parents in the congregation who took an interest in the teenagers in the congregation. Every Sunday night, we would either go rollerskating, bowling, or the movies. Of course, the elders had to go and put a stop to that. We should be spending more time in more theocratic pursuits.

i've noticed several posts the last few days slamming people with different beliefs.

now i enjoy a good debate but i think this is something that you who claim to believe or follow the teachings of the wts should keep in mind.

now i will only be using scriptures so you need not worry!.

Much fuss about nothing?

hey all,.

having been around the internet for about 7 years now and spent many years on h2o i have observed the activity of fred hall and you know both there and here.

people are of course free to do whatever they want, but personally i don't understand why anybody will bother with these two "village idiots".. why not ignore them completely.

What kind of God to you worship? I'm sure not the same God most of the good people here worship. Do you go to hospitals and make fun of cancer patients with no hair? Do you find mentally challanged individuals amusing as well? Do you make fun of them as well?
THERE ARE PEOPLE HURTING HERE!!! There are people who have had horrible things done to them and their families. For you to spout off BULLS#$%t like you both do sickens me!!! What the heck is wrong with you. You both should be ashamed of yourselved. You get your jollies from other peoples pain. YOU DISGUST ME. You call yourselves "christians" and followers of God. HOW DARE YOU!!!! This is how GOd would treat hurting people? YOU MAKE ME SICK!!!!!!

who has the worst exaggerated story to tell about being a dub?

ex.. when i was a child we had to sit for fourteen hour assembly days in the hot sun without fans because they were not allowed for the other sheep.

we had to take shorthand of every word written in the talks and review our notes for two hours after the convention was over.

for those who "grew up in the borg"

at this late, middle stage of my life, i've started wondering, now that i know what i know, about the things in my life that i "lived" with.

having been raised all my life in the "borg" i have known nothing else.

when questions began forming years ago, it started me thinking.

My Mom became a witness when I was 4, I got out when I was 27. I lived thru 1975. To me, it was frustrating that I did not choose this religion. I was always made to feel weird by the congregation because I doubted certain beliefs. (Especially by the "super spiritual" family that every congregation seems to have). So, I was made to feel weird in school because I was a Witness. Every year, the same thing. "What did YOU get for Christmas?" What a "perfect" opportunity to preach about my beliefs. (Yeah, perfect opportunity to get my ass kicked....good will and peace towards man my ass!!). And, to add insult to injury. I was made to feel weird by certian (saying with disgust) "christians" in the congregation. Some have posted that being a witness turned them off to other religions. Since leaving, I've tried others, and, my experience shows that the other religions aren't really any better. It's very very sad. It seems that it's only about the money. Witnesses judge your spirituality by how many hours you spend in field service and by how many magazines you place.(love that word..Should be "Sell").
So called "Born Agains" judge you by how much you tithe. Why should I have to spend $60 to $100+ for a bible in a christian book store. Makes me think of the time when Jesus turned over the money tables in the temple. (Remember from "Listening to the Great Teacher?). Anyway, sorry for the rant. I guess after all these years, it still bugs me.
